Specifying Wood Floor Resource Group Products
The following is sample specification guidelines for FSC
certified wood flooring.
These specifications can be included on a line item basis,
corresponding to the individual products in question, or under
a General Requirements or Definitions section, with line item
references to that section that the product specified employs
an "FSC standard".
Wood product (specify product type, grade, dimensions, finish,
etc.) shall be supplied by Wood Floor Resource Group ((866)
457-9374, www.WoodFloorResourceGroup.com)
and shall originate from forests that are certified well-managed
by an organization accredited by the Forest
Stewardship Council (FSC).
Documentation confirming the FSC-certified status of all wood
products shall be submitted to the Architect/Designer for
approval prior to installation. Products for which acceptable
documentation is not submitted may be rejected and their removal
required. FSC-accredited certifying agencies include the SmartWood
Program administered by Rainforest Alliance (802-434-5491)
and the Forest Conservation Program administered by Scientific
Certification Systems (510-832-1415). For a complete list of

Acceptable documentation shall include:
1. A copy of the wood supplier's Chain of Custody certificate
issued by an FSC-accredited certifying agency; and
2. A copy of the supplier's invoice detailing the quantities of
certified wood products supplied for this project, with the FSC-certified
status of each product listed in the individual line items (important); or
3. A copy of a letter from an FSC-accredited certifying agency
corroborating that the products detailed on the wood supplier's
invoice originate from certified well-managed forests.
Submission of a Chain of Custody certificate without an invoice
or submission of an invoice without a Chain of Custody certificate
shall not constitute acceptable documentation. |
